However, especially in years when the new, incoming president belongs to a different party than the former president, submittal of the budget may be delayed. For example, President Barack Obama did not submit his FY 2014 budget proposal until April 10, 2013, due to ongoing negotiations with Congress over the implementation of the budget sequester and mandatory spending cuts dictated by the Budget Control Act of 2011. In fiscal year 2016, the federal budget called for the expenditure of nearly $4 trillion. So, as you might imagine, deciding exactly how that much taxpayer money is to be spent represents a major part of the president’s job. While the formulation of the president’s annual budget proposal takes several months, the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 (the Budget Act) requires that it be presented to Congress on or before the first Monday in February. House and Senate Budget Committees Report the Budget Resolution The Congressional Budget Act requires passage of an annual Congressional Budget Resolution, a concurrent resolution passed in identical form by both House and Senate, but not requiring the Presidents signature. The Budget Resolution is an important document providing Congress an opportunity to lay out its own spending, revenue, borrowing and economic goals for the coming fiscal year, as well as the next five future fiscal years. We played christmas music and sang and danced while we decorated. Also, there’s a tradition here in Provence, called â€Å"Crà ¨che de Noel† in french. You put up these little figurines called â€Å"santons† and you build your own little town including Virgin Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. I will post pictures at the end of the entry. It was nice having someone from home. Sunday we went to Aix-en-Provence and there was christmas music and the little christmas market. It was really cute. The next day my host mom told me I could skip school to spend the day with my friend so I stayed and we went to visit La Ciotat and ate a really good burger at a small local restaurant. That same week, the school had an event called â€Å"Classe en Classe† which consists of dressing up real nice (boys with tuxedo and everything) even the teachers. We went shopping and I found a dress and heels to wear. I almost died after wearing heels for the whole day (okay, not really). Friday, the last day of school, my social economics teacher let us bring food. The whole hour we listened to music, talked and ate. She even brought a machine for making tea. On Sunday, a German girl named Seren came to visit. She stayed last year with the family but they got along really well so she came to spend Christmas with them. She was really nice. She stayed 6 days but we did a lot of stuff. One night we went to a nearby village, called Sanary. They had a Christmas light show with music and fireworks and all the sailboats decorated. After that was christmas but I will write about that in another post. Christmas was so much fun with the family. We ate foie gras and opened the presents. I thought it would be harder for me being away from my family and all that, but i really enjoyed it. New years we spent it with a friend of Bea from Italy and her family. Her name is Virginie and she lives in bologna with her husband and two daughters. The oldest daughter ir 12 years old and speaks a little bit of french. The youngest is 9 and she speaks only Italian so it was a bit funny how we talked with her.

Global warming threatens not only the survival of the human species, but also of other living things big and small that call Earth home. Serious efforts have been made to counter or at least minimize the adverse effects of global warming. Because emissions like carbon dioxide from fossil fuels are a major source of global warming, people have sought alternative sources of energy like solar, hydro and wind power. They have also come up with electric vehicles. Four different kinds of electric vehicles now on the market were showcased at PowerTrends 2009, a renewable energy exhibition held on Sept. 9-10 at World Trade Center in Pasay City. The e-vehicles displayed at PowerTrends? the e-jeep, e-car, e-bike and e-quad? are generally priced higher than their gasoline-powered counterparts. The famous age-old saying, â€Å"A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words,† is the secret that lies behind why these posters were so powerful and successful in the first place. Even though we are looking at them many centuries later, we can still feel the impact and experience the intended effects of their depictions. As Americans, many have been exposed to a range of American war posters through various means such as a school history books. There are few different war posters that are definitely worth taking a look at. Though at first glance they look extremely different, their main message is essentially the same: this war is necessary and we, as Americans, must do all that we can to help. The Role of Information Technology in Education initiative explores factors necessary to help technology reach its potential for learning. From the public school to the university setting, from local communities to nonprofit organizations, these grantees each offer a unique perspective on the role of technology in education. University of Oklahoma Colleges of Engineering and Education, in partnership with the State Department of Education, Norman, OK The Colleges of Engineering and Education, in partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education, is creating an Internet-based training program to instruct teachers how to incorporate electronic media into their classrooms. Critique of The Day After Tomorrow The movie, The Day After Tomorrow, addresses the issue of global warming. The movie?s portrayal of the events caused by global warming was extreme and not very believable. Some of the information is backed up by science but most is completely off the wall and nonrealistic. The movie cited the cause of the global climate change to be the rise in temperature due to greenhouse gasses. The warmer temperatures caused the polar ice caps to melt, and the increased amount of freshwater in the ocean disrupted the North Atlantic Current. The North Atlantic Current is what is responsible for the warm temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere. If this animal froze immediately than a human surely would, especially if they were wearing nothing more than a turtleneck. Other scenes in the movie show humans frozen to death, and then others are st anding there with nothing wrong. With temperatures as low as they were supposed to be in the movie, the people who were still alive would have a horrible case of frostbite. In the movie, there was no frost bite to be seen. The temperature inconsistencies were glaring in the movie and made it seem incredibly unrealistic. There were also scenes in the movie where the characters are outrunning the freeze. There is no possible way a person could outrun temperature. There is also no way a person could survive temperatures that low. The temperature was so low that everything was immediately freezing, including flags and buildings. There is no way that a human could possibly survive a temperature that low. There were some other things that bothered me about the movie, such as the isolation of the ?ice age? The movie?s ice age was specifically isolated to the northern hemisphere. Americans were able to seek refuge from the storm by merely crossing the border into Mexico. So the storm wasn?t even isolated to the Northern Hemisphere, or even North America, it was only in the US and Canada.
